How to Obtain Industrial Training Fund(ITF) Compliance Certificate in Nigeria

HOW TO OBTAIN INDUSTRIAL TRAINING FUND (ITF) COMPLIANCE CERTIFICATE IN NIGERIA

Industrial Training Fund (ITF) Compliance Certificate is one of the important documents that is required when applying for tenders, or any contracts in any Federal government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). It is mandatory for any supplier, contractor or consultant bidding for contracts and businesses from any Federal Government Ministries, Department, Agency, industries and private companies to have an Industrial Training Fund (ITF) Compliance Certificate

LIABILITY TO CONTRIBUTE TO INDUSTRIAL TRAINING FUND

ITF ACT SECTION 6 (1-3)

  1. Every employer having either 5 or more employees in its establishment, or having less than 5 employees but with a Turnover of N50m and above per annum, shall, in respect of each calendar year and or the prescribed date, contribute to the Fund one per centum of its total annual payroll.
    2. Any Supplier, contractor or consultant bidding or soliciting contracts, businesses, goods and services from any Federal Government Ministry, Department, Agency, commercial, industrial and private entity shall fulfil the statutory obligations of its employees with respect to payment of Training Contribution to the Fund.
    3. Any liable organization, public or private including companies situate in the Free Trade Zone requiring approval for expatriate quota and/or utilizing custom services in matters of export and import, must show proof of compliance with this Act in respect of payment of training contribution of its employees and all regulatory agencies of the Federal Government shall ensure compliance with Section 6(1) – (3) of this Act.

ITF registration is divided into two categories namely

  • A new employer or business owner
  • A registered or existing employer
  1. A NEW EMPLOYER
  • Complete the ITF Form 7A which is available for download online
  • After completing the ITF Form 7A, it should be submitted to the nearest ITF area office along with:
  1. A copy of company’s Corporate Affairs Commission’s Certificate of Incorporation
  2. Certified true copies of the company’s Audited Account
  3. A copy of the company’s Tax Clearance.
  • The company will be assessed for its liability by ITF Revenue, Inspectorate and Compliance Officers
  • RRR will then be generated through the ITF Pay-portal or Remitta platform
  • After the RRR has been generated, it will be taken to the Bank for payment of training contribution
  • After the payment has been made, a printout of payment and duplicate teller from the bank will be taken to the ITF office
  • At the ITF office, a hard copy of receipt and acknowledgement letter will be given to you
  • The ITF Area office will then proceed to forward your details which was contained in the ITF Form 7A to Headquarters’ Revenue, Inspectorate and Compliance Department for issuance of ITF National Number.
  • Your ITF National Number will then be sent to the Area Office for Scripting and issuance of Certificate of Compliance
  • After all the procedures above have been carried out, a certificate of compliance will be given to you as an evidence of your compliance with the ITF Act
  1. REGISTERED OR EXISTING EMPLOYER
  • Registered or existing employers are expected to complete the ITF form 5A which is available online
  • After filling the ITF form 5A, the next step for you to take is to submit it to the ITF Area Office where they are registering for vetting of their liability to the fund
  • Generate RRR on the ITF Pay portal or the Remitta platform for payment
  • Make payment into the ITF account through banks
  • Submit your evidence of payment to the ITF Area office
  • The Area office will then issue a compliance certificate to your company

  • Copy of company’s Certificate of Incorporation issued by Corporate Affairs Commission’s
  • Certified true copies of the company’s Audited Account
  • Copy of the Company’s Tax Clearance
  • Payroll
